What this assumes

  • Tax slabs are Nepal’s FY 2081/82 rates for a single individual — the top two bands (36% and 39%) include the applicable surcharge.
  • SSF contributions are treated as a deductible retirement contribution, limited to the lesser of the contribution itself, one third of income, or NPR 500,000.
  • For SSF members the 1% social security tax on the first band is not charged again, since it is already inside the 11% deduction.
  • Basic pay was assumed at 60% of gross, because you left it blank. Only SSF depends on it — income tax is worked out on the full gross either way.
  • Every rupee of allowance is treated as fully taxable. Nepal grants partial relief on some allowance categories, so an allowance-heavy package may come out lower in reality — see the note below.
  • Salary is assumed level across all 12 months, with no bonus, overtime, gratuity payout, or other deductible insurance premiums.

Basic pay is a guess, and SSF moves with it

With no basic figure entered, this assumes 60% of gross NPR 30,000 of your NPR 50,000. Real packages commonly run anywhere from 50% to 70%, so your SSF deduction could reasonably differ by a few thousand rupees a month. Employers also differ on whether they compute SSF on basic or on gross at all. Enter your actual basic pay above for a figure you can rely on.

Allowance exemptions are not modelled yet

Your NPR 20,000 of monthly allowances is added to taxable income in full. Certain categories — communication and medical allowances among them — carry partial exemptions or rebates that this tool does not yet break out. If a large share of your pay arrives as allowances, treat the tax figure here as an upper bound and check the specific categories on your payslip.

An estimate, not tax advice

Slabs, surcharges and deduction ceilings are revised by the annual Finance Act, and personal circumstances change the result. Confirm against the Inland Revenue Department before relying on these figures.
